Description:
Here is page 24 of a 78-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "Those Amazing Class 'D' Locomotives." It was issued originally in June of 1981. Partial Caption: "Here is a rare photo of PRR engine No. 959 showing early and experimental use of the 'keystone' on front of the smokebox." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #959, a D-10 (4-4-0) "American" built in the Altoona Machine Shops in July of 1891 and sold to J.T. Garner in November of 1909.
